Josef Lah

Josef Lah, age 79, entered into eternal life on December 20, 2019 in Chardon, Ohio surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Josef was born January 15, 1940 in Mala Vas, Slovenia to the late Joseph and Ana (nee Zupancic ) Lah. Josef immigrated to the United States in 1958 and lived in Cleveland and Willoughby Hills before moving to Chardon 18 years ago.

Josef was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Cleveland.

He was the owner/operator of Josef hair Design in Richmond Heights from 1961-1994. He was employed as an Abstractor for Landsel Title and a Closer and Loan Closer Majestic Title retiring in 2014. He was an U.S. Army National Guard Veteran.

His family describes him as a family man that adored his grandchildren.

Josef is survived by his wife of 57 years Marie (nee Derling); son Andrej (wife Pam), daughters Maria Creagh (husband Gerard), Kristina O’Brien (husband Greg); grandchildren Christian, Alexander, Victoria, Alexija, Josef, Nicholas, William, Nathanial and Shane; great-granddaughter Katya; sister Irena Rus (husband Josef); brother-in-law Joseph Chauby; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Josef is preceded in death by his sister Magdalena Chauby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 11 AM at St. Mary Church, 15519 Holmes Ave. Cleveland, 44110.  Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate Josef’s life at the church from 10 – 11 a.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date at All Souls Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions suggested to St. Mary Church.
