Dearest brother of the late Julie Smrekar (husband Clarey, deceased) and Donald Vidmar. Dear brother-in-law of Geraldine Kanter (husband Marvin, deceased) and the late Joseph A. Whelan (wife Jane) and Jacqueline Whelan. Dear uncle and great-uncle of many Retired Cleveland policeman. World War II and Korean Conflict Marine Corp Veteran and recipient of two Purple Hearts. John was also a member of The Frozen Chosen Unit in the Korean Conflict.
