JOHN J. TURK age 93, beloved husband for 62 years of the late Margaret A. “Peggy” (nee Christyson); loving father of Patricia A. Atkins (husband Philip), Anne Marie Mangano (husband Anthony), Janine Cazell (husband Ben), Susan Sawyer (husband Bill), and the late Baby Jeanne Marie; devoted grandfather of Megan Fogle (husband Kevin), George Mangano (deceased), Lee Turk Atkins, John Cazell, Frank Mangano, Nathan and Adam Cazell, Sarah Sawyer and great-grandfather of Peter George; cherished son of the late John and Ursula (nee Skall); dearest brother of the late Anne Vovk (husband Raymond, deceased); dear uncle and great-uncle of many. WWII U.S. Army Veteran.

John was born on February 28, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away December 31, 2017. He was a parishioner of St. Jude Church, Warrensville Heights, from 1952 to 1974, and then active as an usher at St. Anselm Church in Chesterland. John graduated from East Tech High School and worked for GE from 1942 to 1986 as their Development Specialist. He served in the 5th and 7th Army during WWII in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion and was honored by France as a Knight of the Legion of Honor. John was an avid reader and a Civil War buff. His hobbies included stamp collecting, metal turning and wood working. He loved landscaping his yard, swing music and Slovenian Polkas. He was a tinker-er, tractor mechanic, Scotch enthusiast and loved a good cigar. He loved his family and they loved him.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Anselm Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of John at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) THURSDAY 4-8 PM.
