John F. Tilisky

JOHN F. TILISKY age 79, beloved husband for 32 years of Jan (nee Barbis); loving father of Anna Gabbey (husband Owen); cherished son of the late John Paul and Gladys (nee Baron); dearest brother of Sharon Mills (husband Dale), son-in-law of Bill & Dottie Barbis and brother-in-law of Major & Patrice Barbis; treasured uncle of Jessie & Rob Wagner, Brian & Amy Mills, Megan & Matt Fastzkie, Katelyn & Chris Coan and Jay & Erika Barbis; great-uncle and friend of many. Survived by his canine grand dog Tucker. U.S. Navy Veteran.

John was born on July 10, 1945 in the Cleveland area and graduated in 1963 from Mayfield High School, just prior to serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. His career path led him to hold an engineering position focused on outside planning and design with the telephone company for many years. With his green thumb, he got tremendous enjoyment from gardening and volunteering his efforts to The Gardeners of Greater Cleveland Club. Being very aware of the world around him, he was an avid reader, who keenly studied the stock market and financial issues. Frequently traveling the United States and taking Viking Cruises satisfied his curiosity of the world and his social and friendly personality. John was very devoted to his family, who witnessed his loving and caring ways on a daily basis. Known for being his own man, he had a high level of integrity and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Willoughby, OH at 11AM. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of John at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) MONDAY 3-7PM.
