JOHN VINCENT ROSE JR., age 79, passed away on January 15, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Deborah Rose (nee Anderson) for 36 years; loving and proud father of Caragh Vasko (husband Ashley) and Rachael Rose; cherished son of the late John Vincent Rose and Helen Rose (nee Taylor); dearest brother of Sandra Rose Moseley (Jimmy, deceased), the late Barbara Rose, Helen Elizabeth Weber (Edward), Paul Rose (Stacy), and Ann Kijinski (Pete).
Born on September 30, 1945, John grew up in Garfield Heights. He always fondly recalled growing up there and playing sandlot baseball. He was a 1963 graduate of Holy Name High School. He earned his bachelor's degree and his master's degree with a focus in counseling psychology from Kent State University. John taught at Holy Name High School and Warrensville Heights High School. He then enjoyed a career of 40 years at the Eastern campus of Cuyahoga Community College, serving in administration, on the faculty negotiating committee, and ultimately retiring from the Counseling department, where he assisted many students with their degrees and career preparations. He wrote the book, A Chronicle/History of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Chapter of Cuyahoga Community College - 1966 to 2006, for which he received the Distinguished Contribution Award by a faculty member.
John enjoyed golfing, reading, and listening to music. What brought him the most joy was spending time with his family. John will be remembered for his faith, generosity, outstanding memory for detail, written recollections, and Irish charm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Chardon or Catholic Charities- Diocese of Cleveland.
