John R. Hannon

JOHN R. HANNON age 86, passed away September 24, 2010; beloved son of the late Helen (nee Beck) and Robert L. Sr.; devoted brother of the late Robert L. Jr. and Betty Jane Langer; cherished uncle of Betsy Langer Kapp (husband Terry), Katey B. and Mary Langer, Kevin S. Hannon (wife Annie), Aedan and Brogan Hannon, and the late Robert L. “Robin” Hannon, III. John was an ardent volunteer with the American Red Cross and belonged to the 10 Gallon Plus Donor Club. For over 65 years, John was a proud parishioner at Christ the King Church as well as a member of the Singles Club. John was employed in the advertising department with The Halle Bros. Co. for 24 years. John moved to St. Augustine’s Manor in 2003. Special thanks to the staff and to John’s friends who were a large part of these last seven years. John had a great smile, and a kind and loving heart. John loved Rock-and-Roll, knew the month and year every Top 40 song came out, and couldn’t understand why anyone wouldn’t like the Beatles. He had the best jokes – always tasteful – and would remind you why Ireland was the richest country in the world at every visit. John traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and the British Isles. When visiting Ireland John kissed the Blarney Stone and while in Nashville the Grand Ole Opry was always on his itinerary. While God limited John’s eyesight, He gave John unlimited fortitude. We will dearly miss John’s laugh, his warmth, his friendship, and his spirit.
