John V. Pawlikowski, age 82, beloved husband for 56 years of Bonnie (nee Zabrosky), loving father of Lance of Chardon, John (wife Anjela) of Concord, Marilisa Warner (husband Fil) of Chardon and Beverly Franklin (husband Michael) of Chagrin Falls, devoted grandfather of Britni, Chelsey, Anthony “AJ”, Johnny, Francis, Hunter and Colton, dear son of the late Michael and Eleanor (nee Twardowska), treasured brother of Sr. Mary Avila, Marcella Trybus, Mary Kudlawiec and Catherine Smith, dear brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle of many. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested in John’s memory to Alzheimers Association-Cleveland Chapter- 23215 Commerce Park Drive, Suite 300, Beachwood, Ohio 44122.
John passed away on May 17, 2012 at Tri Point Hospital in Concord, Ohio. John was born on June 29, 1929 in Spangler, Pennsylvania. He was a United States Air Force veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Chardon) and the Polish Legion in Pennsylvania. John loved gardening. He was a very good baseball player and was offered a contract to play with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was a fan of the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers. John loved spending time with his family who remembers him as a loving husband, father and grandfather who was very unselfish, a hard worker and giving of his time to others. He had a big heart, never complained and was very faithful.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 10:00 am at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North Street in Chardon. Burial following in Chardon Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of John at DEJOHN-FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY OF CHARDON (formerly RITONDARO), 126 SOUTH STREET (RT. 44, SOUTH OF RT. 6/CHARDON SQUARE) ON MONDAY FROM 4:00 TO 8:00 PM.
