John P. Seiz

JOHN P. SEIZ age 74, beloved husband for 50 years of Sandra (Nee Shepherd); loving father of Amy McCartney (husband Andrew), John David, and Jason (wife Marie-Pierre); devoted grandfather of Emily, Carrie, Abby, Kian, and Miles; cherished son of Mary (nee Defilippis) and the late Edwin; dearest brother of Phyllis and George (wife Janet); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.  Survived by his K-9 companions Millie and Griff.

John Peter Seiz was born in God’s Country, AKA Reading, PA on July 18, 1944.  He remained in Burks County until his father moved the family to Mayfield Heights, Ohio in 1955. A 1962 graduate of Mayfield, John continued to keep in touch with classmates over the years and loved helping plan class reunions.  After high School John was hired by Ohio Bell where he met some of his closest friends.  The Ohio Bell Family spent fourth of July’s together at the Seiz home for decades and the memories are treasures. After 31 years of Ohio Bell service, John retired to pursue his collection of telecron clocks, his love of photographing churches and his joy of simply futzing around the house.

Contributions may be made in memory of John to Geauga Humane Society Rescue Village, 15463 Chillicothe Road, Novelty, Ohio 44072. Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Celebration of Life Service in memory of John will be Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11 AM at Garfield Methodist Church, 3650 Lander Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44124. Private Burial at Gates Mills North Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of John at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 3-5 & 6-8 PM.
