JOHN H. MATUSKA, age 82, passed away on March 27, 2025. He was the beloved husband to Martha (nee Brys) for 49 years, loving father of Margaret Mary "Meg," Mark (wife Melissa), and Matthew (wife Caitlyn); devoted grandfather of Michael, Benjamin, Myles, and Mila; cherished son of the late John F. and Margaret (nee Pope); dear brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, and friend of many.

John was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Benedictine High School in 1961. He earned a B.S. in Metallurgy from the Case Institute of Technology, after which he served in the US Army. Upon discharge, he began his over 40-year career as a process engineer supervising the quality of steel production at the integrated mill in the Cleveland Flats. Over multiple corporate banners, he was a constant, retained for the brilliance and ingenuity that he brought to his work. He was a dedicated and deeply involved father, coaching his children's little league teams and serving as their biggest cheerleader as they moved on to greater pursuits. A fierce competitor himself, John was an avid bowler as a younger man and was a fixture at the Mentor and Willoughby Hills Senior Center bridge games.

He enjoyed winters in Florida, cruises with his wife and friends, and visits from his grandchildren. He was a faithful husband and father, a steadfast and loyal friend, and all who knew him will miss his dry sense of humor and wit. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of John to Benedictine High School or the American Heart Association.

Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at St. Noel Catholic Church, 35200 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills, Ohio, at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow with a private burial at All Souls Cemetery.
