JOHN T. FAGAN age 79, beloved husband for 50 years of Kathie (nee Crow); loving father of John (wife Vickie), Jim, and Dan (wife Nicci); devoted grandfather of Nora, Finley, and Sullivan; cherished son of the late John and Winnie (nee Nolan); dearest brother of Mike (wife Gerry); dear uncle and great friend of many.
John was born on April 1, 1939 in Cleveland and passed away peacefully on January 4, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He grew up in University Heights where he attended Gesu grade school and graduated from St. Ignatius High School. John attended The University of Notre Dame where he was a member of the first varsity men’s swim team. He also attended John Carroll University where he was a member of the Glee Club. John joined the U.S. Army in 1963 where he was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston training as a Medic, followed by six years of service in the U.S. Army Reserve. John and his wife Kathie raised their three sons, John, Jim and Dan in Chesterland and have been residents there for the past 44 years. John was a dedicated parishioner of St. Anselm and head of their Finance Council for over 20 years. As a proud alumni parent, John was very active at Gilmour Academy. He served as president of the Gilmour Academy Men’s Club and founded the alumni parent association, GAAPA. John was an honored member of the Irish American Club. Professionally, John was a co-founder of Western Reserve Resources Corp and the Patriarch of Shadow Hill. In his free time, John truly enjoyed cooking for friends and family and could be found on the golf course or in the pool swimming laps. He was a true lover of all things Irish especially Irish pub music and listening to jazz. John got the most enjoyment out of life when he was with his family, watching his boys compete in sports and spending time with his grandchildren. He truly perfected the “Bad Dad” jokes. He and Kathie loved to travel and in 2014 they took the trip of their lifetime to Ireland with their children and daughters-in-law. It was a trip that will forever be in their hearts. John was a kind, caring and very selfless man with a deep integrity and strong faith. He loved to socialize and was a party waiting to happen. John will be forever missed. Sláinte!
