JOHN B. “JACK” DONOHOE, age 85; beloved husband for 58 years of Mirella “Lynn” (nee Martinazzo); loving father of John M., Anne Safko (husband Edward), Susan Swales (husband Thomas) and Michael (wife Elizabeth Lorbeer) of MI; devoted grandfather of Danielle, Amanda, Peter, Sarah and Rosalie; cherished son of the late William and Eileen (nee Burke); dearest brother of Eileen Vanderbilt (husband George “Bud”, deceased) and the late Rev. Fr. Robert Donohoe; dear uncle, great-uncle of friend of many.

Jack was a US Army Korean Conflict Veteran. A resident of Mayfield Heights for seven years after moving from Lyndhurst, he was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church for 57 years (and was their first cantor), a member of the Cleveland East Suburbanaires Barbershop Chorus for 53 years and a member of the Crooked River Music Company Barbershop Quartet for 27 years. After graduating from Cathedral Latin High School in 1947, Jack received his BS in Social Science from John Carroll in 1953 and worked for Sears Roebuck. Later, he earned his Bachelor of Law from Cleveland Marshall Law School and worked for Calvary Cemetery. He was a U.S. history buff and enjoyed playing Bridge and traveling. Many will fondly remember Jack as a friendly, faithful, family man who had good principles, told great stories and believed in seeing “the glass half full”.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, November 1, 2014 at St Clare Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jack at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 3-7 PM.
