John Bernot

JOHN BERNOT age 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. He was born on October 8, 1931 in Cardale, Pennsylvania where he was the youngest of 9 children. Beloved husband for 60 years of Mildred (nee Hulway); loving father of John (Jackie), Andy (Cindy), Jim (Michele), Bill (Debbie), Janet Koratich (Dan), Tom (Jessica), and Laurie Salatino (Nick); devoted grandfather of Josh (deceased), Michael (Heather), Jillian, Natalie, Jimmy (Mandi), Nate, Alex, Julie Koratich, Matt, Jake, Joey, Koratich, Ben, John Koratich, Sammy Salatino, Gianna Salatino, Carli Salatino, Barrett and John, great-grandfather of Vinnie; cherished son of the late John and Mary; devoted brother of Mary Zavada and the late Stella Tunmer, Josephine Bock, Frank, Joseph, Mike, Fred, and Matthew Bernot. John leaves behind many close friends and many items on the honey-do-list.

John was so much, to so many, for so long. He was employed at Addressograph-Multigraph where he worked for 18 years, and was a Teamster for the remainder of his career, eventually retiring from UPS. He was a coach in the Wickliffe baseball league, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and veteran of the United States Army. He was a proud member of Mt. Carmel Parish in Wickliffe where he volunteered countless hours, serving as an usher at Sunday mass, participating in Mt. Carmel Players, and offered his handy-man services around the parish.   John’s lasting legacy will always be in his love and dedication to his wife, his care and commitment for his family, and his active example of a strong work ethic and Christian living.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of John at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 2-4 & 5-8 PM.
