John Marius Argenzia

June 24, 1928 — September 1, 2024

JOHN MARIUS ARGENZIA, 96, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024.

Born to Dominick Argenzia, Sr. and Angeline Viscusi Argenzia in Rome, New York on June 24, 1928, he is survived by his devoted daughter Lynda Chandler (Richard), his grandchildren Lauren Chandler Thomas (George), John Patrick Argenzia (Sarah), Allison Argenzia Wallace (Joey), great grandchildren Benjamin Argenzia, Isaac Thomas, and Rosemary Thomas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years Bobbie Jean Meehan Argenzia, son John Argenzia, Jr. (Pam) and by his siblings Salvatore Argenzia, Armand Argenzia, Frank Argenzia, Philomena Argenzia Tehan (Louis), and Domenic Argenzia, Jr. (Lucille).

John was the first person in his family to go to college, paying his tuition by teaching chemistry labs and taking on home improvement projects for University professors. He met his wife, Bobbie, at the University of Alabama where they both graduated. They started their family in Gadsden, AL where John began working for Goodyear. In 1965, Goodyear promoted him to Chief Chemist and transferred him and his family to Golçuk Turkey where they lived for five years. The family returned to the US in 1970 where John continued his career as the International Compounding Manager for Goodyear in Akron, Ohio until he retired in 1993. For many years, he and Bobbie were regular members of The Chapel in Akron. Enthusiastic about technology, John was an avid fan of computers in the early days of their use, studying computer languages and creating computer programs. He was president of the Goodyear Investors Club, a Bible Study Fellowship teacher, a bridge partner to his wife at the Akron Women's City Club, a member of the Terpsichorean Dance Club, and a lifelong gardener. A do-it-yourselfer, he was never without a project. Although his career took him all over the world on business, he continued to enjoy traveling with his wife and family throughout his life. He always loved and cared for his family and was dearly loved.

Please meet at the entrance of Mount Hope Cemetery, 30000 Miles Road, Solon, OH 44139, for a Graveside Service on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 11AM.

Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND.
