Joanne Sterle

JOANNE STERLE (nee Petrich) age 89, beloved wife for 60 years of the late Eugene; loving mother of Eugene and Michael (wife Audrey); cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (nee Jakse) Petrich; dearest sister of Carol Kikel (husband John deceased), and the late Marie Sterle (husband John deceased) and Elsie “Babe” Cesen (husband August deceased); dear aunt and great-aunt of many. 

Joanne was born on February 23, 1934 and graduated from Mayfield High School in 1952. Residing in Highland Heights, she was a member of St. Paschal Baylon Parish.  As a caring and nurturing homemaker, Joanne lovingly raised her two sons.  During her free time, she was an avid gardener, who spent many hours in her flower beds.  She was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. Being of Slovenian heritage, Joanne loved to sing and dance to polka music. Her family describes her as generous, with a wonderful sense of humor.  Above all, she was highly devoted to her family and faith.  Joanne passed away on February 1, 2024 and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joanne to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. 

Celebration of Life Service Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Funeral Home at 12 Noon. 

Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.

 Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joanne at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 4-7 PM.
