Joanne Lee

Joanne Lee 윤정분 passed away on October 19, 2024 at the age of 78 at her home in Pepper Pike, Ohio. She was born on September 15, 1947 in a small town of SeokJeok in Gyeongsanbukdo, Republic of Korea. She went on to enter and graduate from Ewha Girls MS and HS and then Ewha Women's University with a major in Home Economics-Clothing and Textiles. After working as a teacher at Keumran Girls HS, she joined her future husband Myung Gene Lee who was the classmate of her older brother Mu Yoon at the Chemical Engineering Dept of the College of Engineering of Seoul National University. After her husband finished his Ph.D. degree at the University of Florida and started working, she started taking accounting courses at the Tri-C and the Cleveland State University. She passed the CPA exam in her first try then applied for a position with the Internal Revenue Service. She worked there for 27 years and retired as a revenue agent. She enjoyed golfing at Sleepy Hollow, Punderson, Seneca and Fowlers Mill, gardening, traveling, painting, textiles and clothing. Joanne was intelligent, kind, talented and had strong convictions. 

She will be greatly missed as a loving, talented, and principled wife, mother, and grandmother. Joanne is survived by her husband of 52 years Myung Gene Lee, her daughters, June Whittaker (husband Matthew) and Yune Lee (husband Jordan Welty), and her four grandchildren, Bobby, Lily, Charlie Whittaker and Eleanor Lee Welty. She is also survived by 3 brothers in Korea and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Gabdal Yoon and Yesein Moon, 2 brothers and 1 sister in Korea.

Celebration of Life Service Friday October 25, 2024 at 11 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following at Whitehaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
