Joanne E. (Wright) Payeur (nee Batson), 77, passed away Sept. 22, 2012, in Kansas as the result of a car accident.
Born May 12, 1935, in Cleveland, she was originally a Mentor resident before moving to Arizona. She had been a Kansas resident for the past 22 years. Joanne graduated from Shaw High School in East Cleveland. She worked as an office administrator for White Motor Company in Cleveland in the payroll department for 20 years until its closing. She worked for a brief time for an advertising marketing firm in Arizona until Bernard’s retirement and moving to Denison, Kansas. Joanne loved to travel, read and crochet. She had a very dry sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved having lighthearted moments with family and friends. Joanne enjoyed her move to Denison and enjoyed sharing many memorable moments with her daughters as she would reflect and talk about the farm life. Joanne and Bernard will be greatly missed by their beloved dog Skipper, whom they referred to as their adopted son.
Survivors are her daughters, Lisa (Nick) Corrado of Mentor and Christine Gulley of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Mandi (Joseph) Shepp, DJ Corrado, Jessica and Nicole Wright, Jason and Justin Gulley; great-grandchildren, Aretino, Shayla and Audriana; brother, M. Frank Batson Jr. of Oregon; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Wright of Eastlake.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, Bernard Payeur; first husband, Charles Wright; son, Dennis Wright; and parents, M. Frank and Lillian (LaVere) Batson.
A Celebration of Life service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road and Route 91). Pastor Michael Currier will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
Family suggests contributions may be made in Joanne’s memory to American Cancer Society .
