Prayers of Christian Burial for Joan M. Erickson, 88, a 63-year resident of Willoughby, will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the funeral home. Joan died Sunday, July 1, at her daughter’s home in Hudson.
She was born on March 19, 1930 in Cleveland. She worked for many years as acting service director for the City of Willoughby. She served in many areas as director, and was instrumental in starting the recycle program for the city. She was known for her selfless, giving ways and dedication to family and friends. She was an avid reader, volunteer at Lake West Hospital, and enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends. She was very polite, included everybody in her activities, and made everyone feel welcome.
She is survived by her children, Mary (Robert) Cook, David and Fred (Kjirsten) Erickson, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, her sister Diane Plummer, a brother Robert (Ruth) Waschura, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley, her parents John and Mary (Matovich) Waschura, and her brother Jack (Mary – deceased) Waschura.

The family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Joan on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 4-8 PM at The DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Rd. (between Bishop and Rt. 91). Private graveside services will be held for Joan and Stanley at Willoughby Cemetery.
