Joan E. Straniero

JOAN E. STRANIERO (nee GRIMES), fell asleep in death on July 30, 2020.  Beloved wife for 39 years of the late Arthur Straniero Sr.  She will be deeply missed by daughter Laura Kingsley (husband Larry) and son Arthur Straniero Jr. (wife Carol); devoted grandmother of Daniel Kingsley (wife Mackenzie); Gianni Straniero and the late Larry Kingsley II; treasured great-grandmother of Haidyn Kingsley; dearest sister of Barbara Trezona and Katherine Lee and sister-in-law Marjorie Straniero; dear aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews; and a friend of many.

Joan was born in 1934 in Marion, North Carolina and died on July 30, 2020 in Chardon, Ohio.  She attended American University in Washington D.C. on a vocal scholarship where she met the love of her life, Arthur.  They were married on July 10, 1954 and celebrated 39 years marriage until Arthur’s death in 1993.  In June of 1955, they were baptized together as Jehovah’s Witnesses at Yankee Stadium in New York City.  Faith was foremost in their lives serving Jehovah were the need was great.  Joan faithfully served Jehovah for 65 years, returning to Chardon after Arthur’s death, as a member of the Chardon congregation.  Joan had strong faith in the Bible’s promise of life on a paradise earth (Psalms 37:29).  She was an avid reader, a gardener of beautiful roses and enjoyed creating heirloom children’s apparel with intricate needlework detail, of which many family and friends were recipients. A memorial and private burial will be held at a future date.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Inurnment will be at a later date.  Arrangements by THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY OF CHARDON. Online obituary, guestbook, and order flowers at www.DeJohncares.com.
