JEANNETTE A. FISHER (nee Harrold), age 85, beloved wife for 59 years of the late Robert C. Fisher; loving mother of Joseph, Allen (wife Gail) and Jennifer; devoted grandmother of Joseph and Thomas Fisher; cherished daughter of Genevieve (nee Smith) and Alvin Harrold; dear daughter-in-law of the late Joseph R. and Josephine (nee Beatrice); dearest sister-in-law of the late Rose McElhaney and the late Joseph R. Fisher, Jr.; loving aunt and great-aunt of many.
Jeannette was born on February 16, 1938 in Library PA and passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024 at Hillcrest Hospital. She was a resident of Lyndhurst since 1964 and long-time parishioner of St. Clare Catholic Church.
Some of Jeannette’s fondest childhood memories were going to a nearby farm to collect fresh eggs and milk cows. “Bonnie” was her childhood nickname that some family still called her throughout her life.
Jeannette graduated from Snowden Township High School in 1956 in Library PA and received her associate degree from Robert Morris University. Shortly after that, she began working as an executive administrative professional at Jones & Laughlin Steel Co. in Pittsburgh where she met her future husband, Robert Fisher. They married on April 25, 1959 in Lowellville, Ohio.
Jeannette was a “guiding light” along with her husband in caring for and raising 3 children. Cooking was her “love language”. Many of her dishes and desserts were family favorites, especially her rich spaghetti sauce, Italian wedding soup, pumpkin pies, and potato salads. She took pride in making sure the family enjoyed holiday meals. In addition to her title as “household CEO”, she attended all dance recitals, was the playground mom, and a life coach to all her children. She supported various charities and was also “mom” to 2 cats, “Smokey” (deceased) and “Sammy”.
It didn’t matter if she only met a person once or several times. To her they were part of her heart. People always referred to her as a “sweet lady”. Yet, a niece of hers would always describe Jan “tough as nails”. Because no matter what was going on with her, she powered through it so she could be there for others.
She even was brave enough during a family vacation to Disneyland to have a picture snapped with several large snakes draped around her shoulders.
Jeannette will be remembered most as a loving wife, a caring mother, and the matriarch of the family. She unquestionably will be missed by many.
