Jean S. Woodie

JEAN S. WOODIE (nee Barnes) age 79; devoted wife of the late Ralph “Butch”; loving mother of Blythe DiCicco (husband Brian) and Kyle (wife Jacqueline); devoted mimi of Caden, Adeline and Colin Woodie and Drew DiCicco; cherished daughter of the late James “Bud” and Jean (nee Rowe) Barnes; dearest sister of Judy Rombouts (husband John), James (wife Karen), Jennifer Dawson (husband Wayne) and Pat; dear sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and dear friend of many. Preceded in death by her canine companion Rufus.

Jean was born on December 16, 1941 and passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2021. She was born in Fairmont, West Virginia and moved to Cleveland as a young girl. Jean graduated from Euclid High School in 1958 and earned her associates in nursing from Baldwin Wallace. She and Butch resided in Highland Heights where they raised their two kids, Blythe and Kyle. Jean dedicated her life to helping others; especially those with special needs. She was a nurse at Huron Road Hospital and a lifelong volunteer for Mayfield City Schools. Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting vintage Royal Dalton mugs as well as other interesting treasures. She may have been small in stature, but her heart was beyond huge. Jean was the greatest and most devoted mimi to her 4 grandchildren and loved them more than anything. She had the best wit and sense of humor and adored spending time with her very dear friends. Jean will be remembered most as a caring and empathetic woman who was extremely kind and gave selflessly of herself. She will forever be missed.

Celebration of Life Service Friday August 6, 2021 at 10 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jean at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 3-7 PM.
