Jean Pekarek

JEAN LUCILLE PEKAREK (nee Romaine) age 93, passed away on October 18, 2022, with Dale and Casey by her side. Beloved wife of the late Herbert C.; dearest mother of Lee (wife Bunny) and Dale (wife Casey); grandmother of Marissa and Robert; sister of the late Ruth Vanderwist; aunt and friend of many.

Jean was a graduate of Shaw High School and an honor graduate, with a B.S. degree, from Northwestern University, where she was elected to Phi Beta and Alpha Lambda Delta honoraries. She worked as an Executive Secretary to the Regional Vice President of the F.W. Dodge Corporation. She was happiest serving as a Teacher’s Aide at Gates Mills Elementary School and was a member and Officer of the Gates Mills Community Club. She was an active participant in the Gates Mills art shows. Jean was also a member of the Cleveland Christ Child Society. She enjoyed playing golf for many years at both Acacia Country Club and Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida. Some of her happiest vacations were fishing with Herb and their sons in Canada.

Contributions can be made in her name to Catholic Charities USA.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jean Monday, October 24, 2022, from 3-6 PM, with a Celebration of Life Service to Follow at 6 PM at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.)

Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 496 East Washington St., Chagrin Falls, OH 44022.
