Janice Lawson

Janice L. Lawson, 81, died on August 3, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 1, 1932 in Lansing MI to Alvin W. Shake and Nita (Norman) Shake. She was a resident of Chardon OH since 2012, previously residing in Morris IL, Augusta KS, Sapulpa OK, and Terre Haute IN.

Janice was a graduate of State High School in Terre Haute. She worked as a retail clerk and volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and an election official. She was also a prize-winning cook. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading science fiction, crocheting, and playing bingo. Her family will fondly remember her as a loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children Jeanne Ann Matherly (husband Andrew) of Terre Haute and Michael Call (wife Chettina) of Chardon; and grandchildren Abigail and Samuel.

Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husbands Thomas Lawson, Jr. and Horace Samuel Call; and parents Alvin and Nita Shake.

A Celebration of Life Service in memory of Janice will be on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 6 PM at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North Street, Chardon OH. Pastor Daniel Drew will officiate. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service.

Visitation will be on August 10 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM at DeBaun Funeral Home, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr., Terre Haute IN. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM at the Springhill Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute IN.

The family suggests contributions be made in Janice’s memory to the American Lung Association, 6100 Rockside Woods Blvd., Suite 260, Independence, OH 44131.
