JANET LOUISE KORN (nee Dray) age 93, beloved wife of the late James Edward Korn, Jr. for 44 years; loving mother of Donna, Bryan (Nicole), Steven (Beckie), Tracy (Tom) Rossoll, and Daniel; devoted grandmother of Griffin, Isabella, Rachel, Hannah, Cassidy, and Erin; cherished daughter of the late Clifford Sr. and Mary (nee Alcox) Dray; dearest sister of the late Marilyn (Max) Douglas and Clifford Jr. (Laura); Janet was a friend and like a mother to many, especially Lisa Stanziale and her children, Carter and MacKenna. She was a beloved aunt to eight, especially Diane Wilkinson.
Janet was born on June 7, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio and eventually made Richmond Heights home. She graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1949, after which she married her Ohio University sweetheart, James, at Gesu Church in University Heights on August 28, 1954. Janet was best known as 'supermom' and performed many selflessly heroic feats daily. These included, but were not limited to, cooking for anyone who wanted a meal, cleaning up after the chaos of five children and an ever-changing menagerie of pets, providing transportation for myriad kids' activities, and attending each and every one of her children's and grandchildren's sports, cultural and dance events. Being supermom to her children, grandchildren, and everyone else in need of mothering brought her the most joy in life. In addition to her duties at home, Janet also used her nurturing powers to serve on the Richmond Heights Schools PTA and co-lead her youngest daughter's Girl Scout troop. Artistically talented, Janet enjoyed drawing and making ceramic pieces, many that her family will cherish for years to come. In addition to ceramics, Janet enjoyed bowling on the St. Paschal Baylon Church women's league and walking with her dear friend, Esther Boyle. She was also an avid sports fan, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Cavaliers, and her favorite team, The Cleveland Indians/Guardians. She was always there as a shoulder to lean on and an ear to anyone who needed advice or comfort. Some of her most prominent superpowers were having the patience of a saint, her gentle disposition, her unconditional kindness for all, and her willingness to always lend a hand. According to family lore, Janet was only known to have cussed three times in her adult life. She was called home to heaven on March 20, 2025, leaving behind a lasting legacy as a perpetually sweet and loving woman in the hearts of all who knew her.
