JAMES W. TEKAVEC age 76, beloved husband for 50 years of Barbara (nee Doubek); cherished son of the late William and Julia (nee Gabriel); dearest brother of Beverly Sue Peck (husband Robert) and the late Thomas (wife Janice); treasured brother-in-law of Randall Doubek; dear uncle of Glen and Veronica Peck, Thomas and Chrissie Tekavec and great-uncle of Taylor Tekavec; fond God-father of William Zaffiro, Jr.
Jim was born on June 28, 1945 in Cleveland and passed away on October 2, 2021. He was a resident of Chardon for 26 years and grew up in Euclid. Jim graduated from Euclid High School in 1963, John Carrol University and Cleveland Marshall Law. He worked as an attorney and was a member of the Elks, Eagles and was a Past President of Ohio Gun Collector Association. Jim was an avid reader, collected military memorabilia, enjoyed gardening and loved his cats and dogs. He was an Indians, Browns and OSU fan. Jim loved traveling all over the world, hunting and fishing. He will be remembered most as a social, hardworking, and friendly man who had a sense of humor and was devoted to his practice. Jim will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jim to Hospice of the Western Reserve, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Geauga County Rescue Village, or Tunnel 2 Towers.
Celebration of Life Service Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following at Fowlers Mill II Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jim at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) THURSDAY 4-8 PM.
