JAMES T. SCHUMACHER, age 52; loving husband of Sheree Grice-Schumacher; dear stepfather of Matt Grice; devoted father of Therese (husband Steven Orenchuk), Sarah Jean, Valerie and Emily; cherished grandfather of Olivia Syvuk; beloved son of George and the late Jacqueline (nee Cull); dearest brother of Suzanne Howe (husband Grahame), Thomas (wife Megan) and Timothy; dear uncle of Michael (wife Courtney), Connor and Ryan; dear friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob.
Jim was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School Class of 1979, University of Dayton and Cleveland Marshall Law School. An attorney who owned his own law practice, he was a member of the Cleveland Bar Association, on the Board of a Nonprofit and on the Middleburg Heights Recreation Committee for over 20 years. He coached softball, soccer and basketball and enjoyed playing bass guitar, photography, walking, swimming in Lake Erie and reading mystery novels with connections to Cleveland.
He was most proud of his girls and loved being a grandpa. His favorite functions included his family’s Christmas parties, Father’s Day, creating calendars for Christmas and taking the kids to the Zoo. His family will fondly remember him as an outgoing, caring, witty, smart guy who had a great sense of humor and was open to various perspectives and ideas.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet for Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 18205 Chillicothe Rd, Bainbridge (SR 306 south of Alt 422). Entombment following in All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jim at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 3-5 and 6-9 PM.
