Funeral services for James T. Kubach, 71, of Mayfield Heights, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 at 3 PM., at the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Rd. (between Bishop and Rt. 91). Mr. Kubach died Feb. 8, 2019 at his residence.
He was born on June 23, 1947 in Cleveland. He was a 5 year resident of Mayfield Heights, previously residing in Euclid. He attended North High School and Cleveland State University. He worked for Northern Ohio Paving as a laborer. He enjoyed fishing, reading, playing the lottery, being outdoors and trips to Florida. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He was fun loving, always telling jokes and trying to make you smile.
Jim was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam War, and was a member of VFW Post 4796.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara (Petrochic), his daughter Kris Kalinic, grandchildren Michael and Joseph Kalinic, sister Kathleen Kensik, brother Terry, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Elizabeth (Sullivan), his son-in-law Steve Kalinic and a brother Dennis P. Kubach.
The family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Jim on Saturday, Feb. 16, from 1 PM until the time of services at the funeral home. Military Honors will be held at the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 4807 Rockside Rd., Suite 110, Independence, OH 44131.
