James R. Haffey Iii

JAMES R. HAFFEY III age 60, loving father of Magdalene; cherished son of J. Ross (wife Marcia) and Marian Smith; dearest brother of Brian (wife Debra), Timothy, Dennis and Christian; dear uncle of 7; treasured nephew of Sam A. Haffey, Fran Kroboth, and Dot Wallace; beloved companion of Susan (nee Mastrangelo); dear cousin and friend of many.

James was a resident of Lakewood and previously lived in Mayfield Village. He was a parishioner of St. Paschal Baylon and St. Malachi Catholic Church. James volunteered at St. Malachi’s fish fry and was a member of the Lakewood Community Garden Club, Eastside Irish American Club, Acacia Country Club and the local laborer union #310. James graduated from Gilmour Academy in 1976 and attended Ohio State University before becoming a laborer in construction. He was the general manager and co-owner for many years of The Lobster Pot, Mr. Steak and Domino Logistics Trucking. James traveled around the world and supported our troops in Afghanistan and Bosnia. He was an avid Browns fan who enjoyed golfing, cooking, gardening, fishing and boating. James was a free spirit who was very outgoing, generous, loving and selfless. He will be remembered most as a hardworking man who was very high energy and humorous. But in all that James accomplished, his daughter, Magdalene, gave him the most joy and purpose in life. He will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are requested to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Malachi Catholic Church, 2459 Washington Ave, Cleveland, OH 44113. Burial following at Gates Mills North Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of James at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) SUNDAY 2-7 PM.
