James Charles Polak, age 81, died peacefully on April 15th 2025. Loving husband of Mary (nee Novak), dearest father of David, Rachael Olivieri (Joe), Daniel (Lisa), John (Adriana), beloved son of the late Charles and Hattie Polak, and devoted grandfather to Alessandro, Giovanna, Calvin, Isabella, and Juliana. James was a cousin to many who were like the siblings he never had.
A mass will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 11:00 AM at St. Noel's Church, 35200 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills, Ohio 44094.
James cherished his family above all else, and his love for his wife and children was evident to all who knew him. James was a self-professed people person who met friends wherever he went. His family was his greatest joy, and his presence will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
Many happy summers were spent with his children and grandchildren in the Outer Banks. Even simple gatherings with friends and family around the table to play cards or a board game were bound to be memorable events filled with lots of laughter.
James was a natural storyteller, and to anyone willing to listen, he would regale his audiences with tales from all stages of his life. An avid bowler, James spent countless hours at the bowling lanes, often traveling with his team, where his competitive spirit and good-natured camaraderie made him a favorite among his friends and teammates.
James always enjoyed a trip to Amish Country, where he enjoyed the countryside, and savored meals at Der Dutchman. A slice of coconut cream pie was always a perfect ending to his day.
He was a man of deep faith and was a dedicated member of the St. Noel's parish. James attended services, usually with his wife by his side, and enjoyed giving back by volunteering his time. James had a big heart, and this was clear to everyone he met. James loved his family, faith, friends, and the routines of home.
Among his favorite foods, he had a soft spot for the comforting flavors of Arthur Treacher's fish and chips.
Although James is no longer with us, his legacy of love, laughter and faith will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His memory will be forever cherished, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
