James Michael Kren

James Michael Kren passed peacefully on December 1, 2022 of pulmonary fibrosis, just three weeks shy of his 77th birthday. Born December 21, 1945, Jim was a graduate of Euclid High School and Lakeland Community College as well as an Air Force veteran. He worked for four decades as an electrical engineer at Bailey Meter and Allen Bradley, ultimately retiring from Rockwell. His beloved wife Lois Trivison Kren, their cat Mr. Sparky, and brother Frank passed away before him. Survivors include sister Kathy Kren (Dave Eaton), brother Thom (Bruce Robertson), sister-in-law Marcia Apicella Kren, and niece Laura Lenz. A long-haired, lifetime fan of rock’n’roll, Jim was a lover of nature and stylish cars, a vegetarian and a chocoholic.

Diagnosed in his twenties with multiple sclerosis, he lived life on his own terms, bravely navigating physical complications both anticipated and unexpected, especially during his final decade, including a successful kidney transplant nine years ago. Throughout his medical challenges, he remained intrepid, resourceful, and optimistic, both actively devising and looking forward to a better day.

A techno – wizard and something of a hermit, he prolonged his widower’s life in Munson Township with generous help from Siri. He remained deeply indebted to the incredible doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and caregivers of Cuyahoga and Geauga Counties who looked after him over so many years. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Hospice of the Western Reserve or Rescue Village.

Arrangements are entrusted with THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91).
