JAMES M. HANSON age 79; beloved husband of 54 years of Eileen; loving mother of Tim and John (wife Melissa); devoted grandmother of Mara, Audon, Madison, Brenden, Maisie and Adeline; cherished son of the late Roy and Frances (nee Poorman); dearest brother of the late John Roy Hanson and Shirley Cutler.
James (Papa) was born on November 17, 1943 and passed away January 12, 2023. He was a graduate of Collinwood High School and Case Institute of Technology with a Bachelors in Metallurgy and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. James worked at G.E for over 25 years where he focused on lighting inventions generating 23 patents including patents for critical components in Lucalox bulbs (the national standard in street lighting), and incandescent and flash photography bulbs. James was a noted member of the Thomas Edison Hall of Fame for his innovations in lighting. He continued to advance his career in lighting technology in his next role as VP of Engineering at Grote Industries. In Indiana, he helped advance LED lighting for commercial trucking applications. Returning to the Cleveland area, he retired from Swagelok holding the position of Vice President of Engineering and Technology. His work at Swagelok helped launch their venture into plastics. He was a member of The Elfin Society, and the Elks Club. James enjoyed spending time with family, friends, boating, travel, playing cards, chess and board games. His favorite music was listening to jazz and blues. He was, hardworking, family oriented, fun loving and driven. He always encapsulated the goodness in life.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Private Services and Burial at a later date.
