JAMES L. AVON, age 68; beloved husband of Sherry L. (nee Podgurski); loving step-father of Tabitha Koval of NV and Michael Flynn (wife April) of AZ; devoted grandfather of Mikey, Savannah, Maria, and Samantha; dearest son of the late Rita (nee Margo) and Hank; cherished brother-in-law of Walter Podgurski (wife Betsy), John Podgurski (wife Kim) and Jeanne-Marie Sable; dear uncle, cousin, and friend of many.

Jim Avon lived a life filled with family, childhood friends and many passions. As a younger man he enjoyed his custom chopper and sports car, among other activities. He was an excellent pool player who was proud of his regulation pool table. He also played in a pool league. he attended Brush High where he graduated in 1961, also having had many friends from Mayfield. Him loved boating, owning a Bayliner Cabin Cruiser which he docked on the Chagrin River. His garden produced tomatoes and other vegetables in abundance. He relished the opportunity to travel, attending boxing Hall-Of-Fame events as well as visiting landmarks across America. He enjoyed many other social activities, like an annual picnic at Squires Castle. He is best described as: husband, father, grandfather, cousin, and true friend, who will be sorely missed by all.

Relatives and friends will meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following in All Souls Cemetery. The Celebration of Jim’s life will continue at LaVera Party Center on Chardon Rd. for a luncheon.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jim at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) MONDAY 2-4 and 6-9 PM.
