JAMES J. ARDIRE, SR. age 91, beloved husband for 69 years of the late Alice (nee Hauck); loving father of Patricia Ardire, Joan Sanfilippo, James, Jr. (wife Laura) and Barbara Wisch; devoted grandfather of Michael and James Scardelletti, Stephanie Seifried (husband Michael), Cassie Palmisano (husband Brian), Nicole, Vito, Marco, Anton and Olivia Sanfilippo and great-grandfather of Taylor, Mikey and James Scardelletti, Avery McDonald, Regan Bearer, Macey, Finley and Alex Seifried; cherished son of the late Sebastian and Theresa (nee Salvaggio); dearest brother of Catherine Manzo (husband Clem, deceased) and the late Phillip (wife Dolores, deceased); dear uncle, great-uncle, and cousin of many. The family would like to thank Amelia Grace Assisted Living for taking such good care of their father and treating him like family.
Jim J. Ardire, Sr., was born on March 8, 1929 in Cleveland, OH and passed away peacefully on September 26, 2020. He grew up in Highland Heights and graduated from Mayfield High School in 1947. Jim was a resident of Chesterland and prior to that Mayfield Heights. He was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran. Jim retired from Briggs Bros Advertising after working for the Cleveland Press as the composing room superintendent for 35 years. Jim enjoyed golf, high school football and traveling especially in the winter to Florida and California. He liked to listen to Big Band music, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. Jim will be remembered as a devoted husband and father who worked hard and had a great sense of humor. He was friendly and very social. Jim will be deeply missed.
Prayers of Christian Burial Monday, October 5, 2020 at 1 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following with military honors at Knollwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jim at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) MONDAY 11 AM – 1 PM.
