JAMES C. GOLENBERKE, age 73; loving father of Sandy Roper (husband Dan), Daniel (wife Veronica), Randy (wife Miriam), Tina, Scott and Steven; devoted grandfather of Austin, Andrew, Addie, Izzy and Landon; cherished son of Alice and the late Calvin; dearest brother of Tom (wife Sue) and Fred (wife Brandi); former husband of Dottie Mecci and the late Carol (nee Berquist); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Jim was born on February 12, 1943 in Cleveland and passed away on April 23, 2016 with his family by his side. Jim was originally from Middlefield, but lived the past five years in Chardon. He graduated from Mayfield High School and was a mechanic and owner operator of several gas stations. Jim retired from Lubrizol and the Plain Dealer after twenty years of service. He was a Browns, Indians and Cavs fan and enjoyed horse racing, gambling, golf, and watching his grandkids sporting events. Jim was known for his dry sense of humor and his sweet tooth. He will be remembered for his easy-going manner, his heart of gold and his generous nature.
Celebration of Life Service Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 8 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Private burial at a later date. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jim at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 5-8 PM.
