James J. "Jimmy the Greek" Galatis

JAMES J. "JIMMY THE GREEK" GALATIS age 71, beloved father of Nicole Galatis-Gerome (husband Matthew) and the late Jason; devoted grandfather of Aiden, Isabella and Dominic; cherished son of the late John and Mary (nee Missirlis); dearest brother of Michael (wife Vicky); dear uncle of Jon and Kristy, and Jenna Galatis and great-uncle of Dominic, Gabrielle, Ethan and Justin; former husband of Anita Nocente; dear nephew, cousin and friend of many. Survived by his canine companion Zoe.

Jimmy was born on August 13, 1953, and passed away on November 20, 2024. He was a graduate of Mayfield Heights High School in 1971. Jimmy was a printing press operator and worked for Oliver Printing for 50 years. In his spare time, he could be found golfing, fishing, bowling, or just socializing. He was always the life of the party. Jimmy enjoyed Greek dancing and listening to Motown. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. Family was everything to Jimmy. He was devoted to his family and friends and loved to watch his grandkids play sports. He was known to them as "Papa the Greek". If you knew Jimmy, you knew a man who was friendly, loving, funny, giving and selfless. Jimmy will truly be missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Service Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3352 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio at 11AM. Burial following at Whitehaven Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jimmy at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) TUESDAY 3-7 PM. Trisagion Service at 6:30PM.
