JAMES L. FARRELL, Retired Police Chief of South Euclid age 75, beloved husband of Coletta A. (Ruth) (nee O’Byrne) and the late Kathleen A. (nee McCarthy); loving father of Steven J. M.D. (wife Rebecca), Eileen M. Zelenskas (husband Michael), John P. (wife Denise) and stepfather of Michael (wife Kathy), Thomas and Kevin Ruth and Peggy Javorsky (fiancé David Gabrielsen); devoted grandfather of Michael and Kyle; cherished son of the late James F. and Catherine M. (nee Fleming); dearest brother of Kathleen Byrd (husband Carl deceased), and the late John F. (wife Mary Ann deceased) and Margaret Williams (husband John deceased); dear uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. U.S. Army Veteran.

Jim was born on September 8, 1941 and passed away on April 22, 2017. He was a resident of Lyndhurst since 1966 previously of East Cleveland. Jim was a member of the Cuyahoga County Police Chief Association, Ohio Retired Police Chief Association, South Euclid FOPA #8 and he was a U.S. Army Veteran. He graduated from Shaw High School and attended KSU. Jim worked for the City of South Euclid Police Department for 30 years spending 6 years 1988-1994 as Police Chief. He also worked as Bailiff for South Euclid Municipal Court for 19 years. Jim was an avid reader, he enjoyed golf and was a Cleveland Sports Fan. He listened to Irish music and oldies. Jim was always joking and making people laugh. He was a social and people person, funny, witty, very bright, organized and well dressed. Jim was a family man and a good friend to many. He will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, April 27, 2017 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church at 10 AM with Military Honors. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jim at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) Wednesday 1-3 & 4-8 PM.
