JAMES EDWARD GROSSMAN, aged 60 years, beloved husband for 37 years to Ann Marie (nee Farley), dear father of Stephanie Garber (husband Stan), Michelle Roch (husband Andres) and Katlyn Grossman, loving grandfather of Emerson Garber, devoted son of the late William C. and Monica Ann (nee Strahler), cherished brother of Linn, Thomas, William, Robert and the late John, fond brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend to many. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 6100 Rockside Woods Blvd., Suite 445, Independence, OH 44131.
Jim was born on November 26, 1957, and passed away the evening of November 13, 2018 at Hillcrest Hospital. He was a resident of Highland Heights for 20 years, previously residing for 15 years in Euclid. He was graduate of Brush High School and received his Bachelors Degree from John Carroll University. In Euclid, he was a member of St. Christine Catholic Church, and in Highland Heights, a member of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church.
Jim worked various places in retail management, including CVS Pharmacy, Macy’s, Kaufmann’s and Thom McAn. He loved all things outdoors – hiking, camping, hunting. He was an avid marksman, reader and loved watching the Browns (win or lose) with his family and a bag of Fritos. He had an eclectic taste in music, from classic rock (AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Meat Loaf, Bruce Springsteen) to Eminem and Post Malone.
His favorite moments, however, were shared with family and friends, especially with his granddaughter Emerson and spending time in Southern Ohio. Special functions and traditions loved by Jim were the Strahler family reunion, family camping trips, hikes in the Metro Parks, ice cream trips, and driving in the fall foliage.
Jim was determined, goofy, loving and intelligent. A constant provider and teacher. He loved taking care of others and befriending everyone. His memory is carried on in this world via the gift of life through organ donation.
Memorial Mass will be held at a later date. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Jim at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) SATURDAY NOV. 17, 2018 FROM 1 PM UNTIL PRAYER AND EULOGY SERVICE AT 3:30 PM.
