In loving memory of James (Jim) Austin Brown (91) who passed 3/27/15 and will be greatly missed by family and friends; loving father of Bonita Power (Brown) and Martin Brown; cherished grandfather of Alanna Power and great grandfather of Krystal Power-Long; loving brother of Chester Brown, Delores Corron (Brown), Austin Brown, and Norman Brown and survived by the mother of his children, Gladys Brown.  He will also be missed by many close friends, companion, and caregivers in Kirtland, OH.

Jim was a proud World War II veteran serving the U.S. Navy starting 3/7/1943 and received the Silver Star.  He served in combat on the SS Walter Colton, SS President Jackson, and USS Antietam near or in New Caledonia and the Solomon Islands.  Jim was a respected and successful business owner of the Richmond Hts., Ohio Open Pantry Food Mart and sponsored a variety of local Little League sport teams through the years.  Jim was an accomplished golfer and team leader with many winning awards including hole-in-ones, eagles, and many super shooters.  He also played local league baseball in his younger years in McKeesport, PA, was an avid baseball and football sports fan and became a manager of Bonds Clothing Stores after moving to Ohio.  Jim was also quite proud of his 50 plus years of service and 32nd Degree honors with the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in PA and OH.

Jim was laid to rest with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on April 2, 2015.
