J. Ross Haffey

J. ROSS HAFFEY, JR. age 81, beloved husband for 43 years of Marcia (nee Swiger); loving father of Brian (wife Debra), Timothy, Dennis, Christian and the late James R., III (wife Susan); devoted grandfather of Ashley Fox, Connor, Maggie, Jaime, Olivia, Spencer, Anson, and Ella and great-grandfather of 3; cherished son of the late James Ross, Sr. and Mary Edith (nee Anson); dearest brother of Sam A. and the late Timothy Haffey; treasured brother-in-law of Marlene Simonetta; dear uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. Survived by his K-9 companions Ricoh, Armani and Boone.

Ross was born on August 26,1938 in Cleveland and passed away on December 21, 2019. He grew up in Lyndhurst, lived in Russel and for the past 43 years was a resident of Gates Mills. Ross graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1956, John Carroll and Cleveland Marshal Law School. He worked as an attorney and was a business owner of the Lobster Pot and Domino Logistics Trucking and Warehousing. Ross was a member of Hillbrook Country Club, Pine Ridge Country Club, Acacia, Chautauqua Rod & Gun Club, Irish American Goodfellows, Cleveland Athletic Club and Pine Lake Trout Club. He was a member of The Cleveland Bar Association, Ohio Supreme Court and served as grand jury foreman twice with the Supreme Court of Ohio. Ross was an avid reader and loved golf, fishing, fine dining and traveling to Canada, Europe, Sicily, and Ireland. He was a devoted husband and father. Ross will be remembered most as a strong, determined, fair, intelligent and kind man who was larger than life. He was social, funny, giving and will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, December 30, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church. Burial following at Gates Mills North Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ross at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) SUNDAY, December 29, 2-7 PM.
