Ivana H. Yuko

IVANA HELEN YUKO (nee Majer), beloved wife for 44 years of John; loving mother of Elizabeth and Victoria; cherished daughter of the late Louis and Helen (nee Corel) Majer.

Ivana Yuko was born on April 15, 1948 in Cleveland, OH and passed away peacefully on September 5, 2019. She was a resident of Novelty, OH since 1978 and prior to that Cleveland. Ivana was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church and St. Vitus Catholic Church. She was the school and parish librarian at St. Helen’s and sang in the choir. Ivana belonged to Glasbena Matica, Slovenska Pristava, KSKJ, SNPJ and AMLA. She graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1966 and John Carroll University in 1970. Ivana obtained her master’s degree in library and information science at Kent State University. She was the owner/operator of Louis Majer Shoe Store. Ivana loved singing, history, traveling, gardening, genealogy, telling stories and jokes, and playing with Lefty, her granddog. Ivana was extremely proud of her Slovenian heritage. She will be remembered as a positive, selfless woman who was devoted to her family and her faith. She was funny, witty and helpful. Ivana will be greatly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, September 9, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Helen Catholic Church. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ivana at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.)  SUNDAY 2-6 PM.
