Mass of Christian Burial for Howard T. Pernoja, Sr., 83, will be Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church 242 N. State St. Painesville. Mr. Pernoja died May 31, 2015at Hospice of the Western Reserve.
Born March 18, 1932 in Painesville, he lived in Cleveland before moving to Euclid where he resided for 51 years. Howard was an automotive mechanic working for Spitzer Ford, Jackshaw Chevrolet before retiring from a service station.
He was an avid remote control plane builder and operator and in his early years belonged to the Cleveland Corvette club.
His family gave him the most pleasure and they will fondly remember him as a wonderful, humble, caring, sweet man that was patient, hard-working and faithful.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Susan M. (nee Gadus); son Howard T. “Toby” Jr. (Marianne); granddaughter Samantha; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Pernoja was preceded in death by his parents Toiva Pernoja and Mona McGraw (nee Bartel); brother William McGraw, and a sister Nancy (John) Toigo.
Family received friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Howard at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Burial following the Mass in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
