Helena Percic

HELENA PERCIC (nee Mihelich) age 79, beloved wife for 52 years of Mario; loving mother of Thomas, Anthony (wife Susan), Timothy (wife Marilyn), and Majdi Patyk (husband Robert); devoted grandmother of 10; cherished daughter of the late Frank and Teresa (nee Osmek) Mihelich; dearest sister of Ana Mihelich, Maria Ferkul, Martina Michals, Vida Lanari, Blazena Rihtar and the late Teresa Mienhart; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Contributions may be made in memory of Helena to St. Vitus Catholic Church 6019 Lausche Ave. Cleveland, OH 44103.

Helena Perčič was a cherished sister, mother, and grandmother. She resided in Richmond Heights for more than fifty years, where she raised her family of four children with Marian “Mario” Perčič. She was a parishioner of St. Vitus parish for more than half of a century. She worked with the St. Vitus Altar Society, Lira, St. Vitus Choir, and more. She was a member of Pristava Pensioners, KSKJ Lodge #169, and the Hilcrest Art Guild.

Through most of her adult life, she was a dedicated housewife and mother to her children. In the kitchen, her bread was baked with love, and the wafting sent drew neighbors to the house. She used food as a way to gather people and the flavors never disappointed anyone.

She was also a “green thumb.” Her living room was rivaled only by dense jungles for its botanical diversity. Her gardens around the yard included pillows of impatiens and luscious vegetables and fruits. Of course, she bashfully deflected credit for their vitality.

As her children grew older, Helena explored her talent for creation by taking up watercolor painting. She became known for painting Slovenian scenes depicting images that reminded her of her homeland of Slovenia. She donated many of her originals to fundraisers to help local “Slovenian” organizations.

A constant for Helena was her Catholic Faith. Prayers of thanks were always offered for all the gifts of her life. These included family, friends, and the many wonderful experiences she was blessed to have.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, January 4, 2020 at St. Vitus Catholic Church at 10 AM. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Private burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Helena at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 3-5 & 6-8 PM.
