Helen Ardella Turk, nee Maiden, age 89, died on April 29, 2014 at Gateway Retirement Home. Born September 24, 1924, in Cleveland, Ohio to Thomas and Mildred (nee Kreblin) Maiden, she attended Collinwood High School. She was the loving mother of Richard R. Turk of Cleveland, Ohio, Pamela M. Turk (husband Steven Wright) of New York City, New York, Robin E. Turk (husband Dallas Sutton) of Palmer, Alaska and Christopher A. Turk (wife Sherry Turk) of Fairport Harbor, Ohio. She was a devoted grandmother to Giovanna Raffaelli Shore (husband Gregg Shore), Daniel Turk, Caleb Sutton (wife Rachel Sutton), Forrest Sutton and Christin Wretschko (husband Chris Wretschko), and the dear great-grandmother to William and Daniella Shore. Helen is also survived by her loving companion for thirty-two (32) years, Julius Block. She was previously married to the late Joseph Turk.
Helen was an avid reader, a wonderful baker and cook. She filled her life by helping others. She was a Girl Scout Leader and Volunteer at the Mayfield Library Book Buddies Program. Her love of music and dance stayed with her throughout her lifetime and brought her much happiness. Helen was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Her greatest joy in life was visiting all of her “kids” – whether they be in Ohio, New York, Alaska or Pennsylvania.
Helen will be especially remembered for her love of family, positive attitude, quick wit, generosity and determination that garnered her great admiration and respect from all who knew her. For those that loved her, you knew she “loved you more.”

Celebration of Life Service in memory of Helen will be held at 4 PM, Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the DeJOHN-FLYNN MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME of WILLOUGHBY HILLS 28890 CHARDON RD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91). Burial will be held in private. Family will receives friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Helen SATURDAY 3-4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation (Parkinson’s) or the Friends of Mayfield Regional Library.
