Helen Hocevar

Helen Pauline Hocevar, 68, of Willoughby Hills, Ohio. Daughter of the late John and Anna (nee Oman) passed away August 29th. Born December 24, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio of Slovenian immigrant parents, at Euclid-Glenville Hospital.

Missing her so much already, are her siblings, Marie Engstrom (Steve), John Hocevar (Barbara), Joseph Hocevar (Dawn), and Thomas Hocevar; nieces Elizabeth Mennel (Michael), Jennifer Sutcliffe (Derek), Amy Carlson (Noah), Julie Iannetti (Anthony), Christina Lute (Brandon), MaryRose Lucarini (Christopher) and Monika Hocevar; nephews David Hocevar and A. J. Hocevar; great nieces Megan, Ruby, Cora, Esther, and Abigail, and grand nephews, Asher, Matthew, Jacob, Dylan, Ari, Sean, Tristan, Jonah, and Tim.

Helen worked in loving service to the ill and the infirm, always with gentle, compassionate care. In her teens, Helen was employed as an aide at the Slovenian Home for the Aged. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, trained at Cuyahoga Community College, she treated cystic fibrosis patients at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital from the start of her professional career. She was employed with the Lake County Center for Rehabilitation where United Way Services featured her care with a stroke patient in their annual campaign poster. She worked at Meridia and Hillcrest Hospitals, the Cleveland Clinic, and Altercare of Mayfield Village, from which she retired.

A cherished member of the Ursuline Community for ten years of her life, she continued working in her chosen field. In her time with the Sisters, she had their support in achieving her bachelor's degree in Psychology, Magna Cum Laude, from Ursuline College, for which we are ever grateful.

Together, Helen, we shared so much as a family, and were as close as any siblings could be. Mom and Dad taught us well. Thank you for your unconditional love and support of each and every one of us.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Helen at THE ZEVNIK-COSIC FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 4-8 PM.

Please meet for a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, 5384 Wilson Mills Road, Highland Heights, Ohio 44143, at 12 Noon.

A private family burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery at a later date.
