HELEN M. GERVINSKI (nee Spodnik) age 93, beloved wife of the late Frank, loving mother of Nancy Gervinski, Donna Casey, and Mary Noonen (husband Daniel); devoted grandmother of Lauren McCarthy (husband Brandon), Kali O’Dell (husband Jeff), Sarah Noonen, and great-grandmother of Ava O’Dell; cherished daughter of the late Michael and Anna (nee Jefko) Spodnik; dearest sister of James (wife Jean), John (wife Mary), and Leo Spodnik (wife Marge), and the late Marge Jereb (husband Leo, deceased), and Michael Spodnik Jr. (wife Pat); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.  

Helen was born March 20, 1925 in Bens Creek, Pennsylvania, and passed away June 27, 2018. She was a resident of South Euclid for over 60 years and previously lived in Cleveland. Helen graduated from Portage Township High School in 1943.  She worked as an investment banking and savings counselor at State Savings & Loan (now Third Federal) for over 20 years.

Helen enjoyed bocce, gardening, dancing, and Big Band music. She travelled all over the United States and Europe. Helen was a member of VFW Post #7536 Women’s Auxiliary. She also was a member of St. Gregory the Great (now Sacred Heart of Jesus) Parish for over 60 years, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, past president of the Women’s Guild, and a member of the church choir. Helen will be remembered as positive, outgoing, and friendly. She was loving and faithful, and known for her perseverance. Helen was very supportive of her daughters and stressed the importance of education, and motivated them to succeed in life.  She will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, July 2, 2018 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish at 9:30 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Helen at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) SUNDAY 4-8 PM.
