Harold N. Powell

HAROLD N. POWELL age 93, beloved husband of the late Sara (nee Edwards); loving step-father of Carolyn Porvasnik (husband David deceased), Louis Caresani (wife Ann) and the late James Caresani; devoted step-grandfather of six; cherished son of the late Ralph and Norma (nee Walter); dearest brother of the late Lois McBride (husband Smokey deceased); dear uncle of Allan & Dyan McBride, Marty & Carolyn McBride and the late Kathleen & Jeff Smith; treasured great-uncle of many. U.S. Marines Corp Veteran. 

Born on December 3, 1931, Harold was raised in Painesville, Ohio and attended the hometown Thomas W. Harvey High School. Immediately following, the US Marine Corp sent Harold to fight at the 38th Parallel, the primary battleground of the Korean Conflict. Returning home to the US, this hardworking individual sought employment, eventually retiring from Westinghouse after holding a Quality Control position in their Gould Ocean Systems Division. Harold was a true master of all trades, who was meticulous and constantly trying to make improvements. Enjoyable activities for him included woodworking, constructing split rail fencing, building model boats, hunting, fishing, and feeding deer. His long-time friends at the Chardon VFW Post will remember his friendly personality and sense of humor. Harold passed away on January 9, 2025, leaving behind wonderful memories by all who knew him.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 3PM AT THE VFW POST 6519 IN CHARDON. Private burial at the Western Reserve Memorial Garden Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Harold at the Chardon VFW Post Sunday 1-3PM. ARRANGEMENTS ENTRUSTED TO THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS.
