August “Gus” Babuder age 85, beloved husband for 36 years of Loretta (nee Golby); loving and devoted father to his children and grandchildren; cherished son of the late August and Marija (nee Jaksetic); dearest brother of Maks Babuder and Irena (Andrej) Strancar; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Gus was born in Slovenia August 10, 1938 and passed away April 11, 2024 with his family by his side. He was a graduate of Cleveland State University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He had a long career in sales with Reliance Electric where he retired. Gus was a proud member of the St. Clair Rifle and Hunting Club and Planica. He was an avid outdoorsman and passed his passion on to his children and grandchildren. He could often be found outside fishing, hunting, giving tractor rides to his children and grandchildren, growing the family Christmas trees, or splitting wood. He also enjoyed coin collecting, traveling the world, trap shooting and spending time working around his property. Gus was also a British car enthusiast as well as an avid reader who was able to learn many different languages that would help him during his world travels. He will be remembered as a hardworking, generous, and competitive person that could capture anyone’s attention with his storytelling and who was able to fix anything. Gus will be missed by all that had the privilege to know him.
