GODFREY R. “JEFF” MEDITZ age 93, beloved husband of the late Ileene (nee Burns); loving father of Kathleen Carmigiano (husband Sandy), Jo Ann Lamb (husband Andrew), Susan Reitz (husband Raymond), and Jeffrey; devoted grandfather of Dawn Zenobi (husband Dave), Traci Briscoe (husband Craig), Angela Gigliotti (husband Adam), Joseph Carmigiano, Andrew Lamb (Jennie Bacon), Erin Murphy Gaugler, MD (husband Michael, MD), Matthew Reitz (wife Frankie), Jonathan Reitz, Christopher, Nicholas, Ryan, and Sean Meditz and the late Sgt. Deborah Rowley, U.S. Army (husband MSgt. William “B.J.”, U.S. Army, deceased), Michael Brezina, and James Sinclair and great-grandfather of Dominic, Joseph, Kaylee, Isabella, Joshua, Julia, Cody, Jesse, Abigail, Emma, Molly, and Jack; cherished son of the late Alois and Mary (nee Petsche); dearest brother of the late Maggie, Mary, Rose, Al, William and Edward; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Jeff was born on November 8, 1924 in Cleveland and passed away on March 11, 2018. He was a resident of Chesterland for 23 years, formerly of Mayfield Heights. Jeff was a parishioner of the Church of St. Clare. He was a member of the Ursuline Scared Heart Academy Dad’s Club, S.N.P.J. and the Society of Diecast Engineering. Jeff graduated from East Tech High School in 1942. He was the owner/operator and president of Cast Specialty a tool and die company. Jeff loved bowling, snow skiing, polka dancing, fishing and boating. He will be remembered most as a very funny, pleasant, family oriented, giving and generous man. Jeff will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday, March 16, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Private burial at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Jeff at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) THURSDAY 4-8 PM.
