Gloria Melaragno

GLORIA A. MELARAGNO (nee Lanzuisi) age 91; beloved wife for 67 years of Joseph; loving mother of Anthony (wife Kathy Immerman) of Oregon, Josephine Jones (husband Richard) of Euclid and Laura Valencic (husband Terry) or Mentor; devoted grandmother of Jennifer Jones Donatelli (husband Joseph), Amanda Jones Bhalla (husband Ritam), Terence Valencic, Jr (wife Allie), Daniel Jones, Joseph Melaragno (wife Jennifer), Abby Valencic, Andrew Melaragno, Anthony and Carly Valencic; cherished daughter of the late Walter and Antoinette (nee Appolonia) Lanzuisi; dearest sister of the late Mary Warden; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Gloria was born on January 20, 1923 in Wheeling, West Virginia and passed away on April 16 at the Slovene Home for the Aged in Cleveland. Gloria graduated from high school in West Virginia, lived in Collinwood and worked as a secretary for St. Joseph High School where she was known as “Mrs. M”. In 1955, she moved to Richmond Heights where she was a founding member of St. Felicitas Catholic Church (which eventually became St. John of the Cross). She enjoyed needlepoint, cooking, baking, dancing, traveling, staying in her condo in Florida and listening to Opera. Her favorite holiday was Easter and she loved spending time with her family. They will fondly remember her as a generous, selfless, personable, prayerful, spiritual, faithful, feisty and devoted lady whose infectious laugh spread to all those near her.

Prayers of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church at 10:00 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Gloria at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) on FRIDAY from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
