Gladys P. Smith

GLADYS PHILLIPPA SMITH (nee Ellerker), aged 98 years, beloved wife for 65 years to the late Elwood T., dear mother of Neal E., Phillippa M. Wilkerson (husband Dennis) and Melanie J. Biebrick (husband Dennis), loving grandmother and great-grandmother, fond sister of the late Gwendolyn Fettinger. In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the Cleveland Society for the Blind, 1909 E. 101^st St., Cleveland 44106-4110.

Gladys was a 1939 graduate of Brush High School. She was a founding member of the Hillcrest Concert Band, playing her trumpet. Gladys enjoyed performing with the band locally and internationally. She was also the secretary for the band newsletter. She was very active at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, such as the women’s altar guild and handbell choir.

Gladys met the love of her life Elwood before he left for active duty in WWII. They were devoted to each other for all their married life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2747 Fairmount Blvd. (at Coventry), Cleveland Hts., at 1:30 PM. Private burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID.
