George J. Thomey

GEORGE J. THOMEY, age 86, beloved husband of the late Helene (nee Cote); loving father of Madeleine Thomey (husband Daniel Polletta), H. Charles (wife Antoinette) and Catherine “Weezie”; devoted grandfather of Christian and Gabrielle; cherished son of the late Habeeb and Anna (nee Daher); dearest brother of Mae Nagel (husband Richard), Jane Garrett (husband Robert) and the late Lillian Thomey; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

George was born on July 27, 1932 in Cleveland and passed away on April 14, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and a member of Gesu Catholic Church. George graduated from Cathedral Latin High School in 1951 and John Carroll University in 1955. He worked as a Deputy Clerk for the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts. George loved horse racing and was a Browns and Indians fan. He will be remembered most as a loving, social and friendly man with a deep sense of responsibility. George was a man for others. He will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Gesu Catholic Church at 11 AM. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Private burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of George at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) TUESDAY 4-8 PM. Prayers of Incense at 7 PM.
